Size Of GallStones

A gallstone's size varies and may be as small as a sand grain or as large as a pea seed or even larger. The gallbladder may develop a single, often large stone or many smaller ones. They may occur in any part of the biliary system. They can vary in size from a few millimetres to a few centimetres.

A person may have many gallstones. They usually range in size from a grain of sand to 1 or 2 inches. They start developing symptoms once the stones reach a certain size (>8mm)

One should remember that if there are more than one gall stone in a GB then they may or may-not be of equal size and shape, in most cases the size of each Gallstone( if more than one present) is found to be different.
